Challenges Faced by Huayi Group

  • The existing stage-gate system lacked integration between project progress and experimental data, making it difficult for leadership to monitor real-time progress and issues.
  • Experimental records varied greatly between individuals, leading to inconsistent data quality, readability, and compliance, which hindered technical handovers and historical data analysis.
  • Inefficient materials and reagents management due to incomplete lifecycle tracking, resulting in excessive procurement, difficulty in managing valuable reagents, and accumulation of expired chemicals in laboratories.
  • Information silos across platforms resulted in low efficiency and hindered data accumulation necessary for high-level analysis.

Our Solutions

To address these challenges, Huayi partnered with Neotrident Technology to implement a comprehensive R&D information system based on the iLabPower platform, integrating project management (PM), Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN), Chemical Inventory Management System (CIMS), Compound Management System (CMS), and Instrument Management (IM).

  • Project Management (PM): Scientists can create projects, manage tasks, and oversee resources within the PM system, allowing project leaders to track progress, manage risks, and access project data in real-time.
  • Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN): The ELN module standardized experimental records, enabling online submission, approval, and retrieval of historical data, enhancing data utilization and reducing time spent on record keeping.
  • Reagents & Materials Management: The CIMS and IM modules enabled comprehensive lifecycle management of materials, including inventory tracking, approval workflows, and efficient utilization, significantly reducing costs and security risks.

Results & Benefits

The digital transformation across Huayi’s eight subsidiaries was completed in three stages, yielding significant improvements:

  • Enhanced Project Management: Integrated project portals and real-time tracking enabled project leaders to monitor progress and make informed decisions quickly, improving communication and operational efficiency.
  • Streamlined Experimental Records: Online approval and standardized templates for different experiment types improved data quality, reduced manual workload, and facilitated easy access to historical records.
  • Optimized Reagents & Materials Management: The system provided real-time inventory visualization, automated alerts, and electronic tracking, reducing reagent wastage, enhancing safety, and cutting procurement costs by at least 20%.

By integrating its R&D and material management into a single, unified platform, Huayi Group has set a new standard for digital transformation in the chemical industry, enhancing its ability to innovate, streamline processes, and maintain a competitive edge in the global market.
